1. Dhigurah

A long, golden strip in the Indian Ocean, this sandbank was voted one of the Maldives’ most beautiful islands, with its beach ranking 34th in the world. The majority of this island is blanketed in lush, tropical vegetation and fringed with silky sand, surrounded by the bluest most pristine waters. Encounter whale sharks, the gentle giants that inhabit these waters year-round. 

2. Bikini Beach, Maafushi 

Following strict Islamic clothing laws, one of the few places you are permitted to wear a bikini in the Maldives is Bikini Beach. A popular tourist spot and home to some of the clearest waters, swim with dolphins and nurse sharks or venture out to the famous shipwreck off Maafushi Island to encounter it firsthand 

3. Hulhumale Beach

Visit Hulhumale Beach for its golden sands and calm conditions. A hotspot for families and holidaymakers, Hulhumale Beach hosts vendors who offer a variety of water sports like jet skiing, wind surfing, kayaking and dive and snorkel hire. 

4. Bikini Beach, Thulusdhoo 

To get away from the crowds and have a more local experience, visit Thulusdhoo Island. Known for its great snorkelling experiences, it houses nurse sharks, black tip sharks, manta ray and a pod of pilot whales.  

5. Sunset Beach, Thulusdhoo 

Shaped into a tip pointing straight out to the ocean and self-explanatory, Sunset Beach is renowned for its stunning fluorescent pink and orange views. Watch the sun descend beneath the horizon and soak in the magical sunset.
